Stop Smoking Without Gaining Weight

Nearly every smoker has been there. We all want to quit, but we are afraid of what will happen when we do. There is no doubt that you have heard stories of people who have quit smoking just to gain a lot of weight. It is hard enough to kick the habit as it is, and we all want to know if it is possible to stop smoking without gaining weight.

In my experiences it definitely is. But you have to apply yourself.

To successfully quit smoking you need to replace smoking with other activities or items. To many people that means they will rely on food or candy to kick the craving. That is exactly what you will want to avoid if you wish to stop smoking without gaining weight.

One thing you can do to stop the weight gain is to replace some of your smoking time with exercise. Instead of lighting up you could take the dog for a walk, go for a swim, or play some basketball. The key is to stay active.

Activity is the key to successfully quit smoking, and the best weapon you have to stopping weight gain.

If you decide to use a nicotine patch to help you break the physical addiction to smoking, you need to make sure that your brand will hold up with exercise. One of the biggest problems people face with the patch is sweat. Sweat can break the bond between the adhesive and your skin causing the patch to fall off. These patches are not cheap, so you need to make sure that they will hold.

I would also advise getting help in your battle to fight nicotine addiction for good. There are many great books and products out there that can give you the extra edge you need to kick the habit for good.

I know how you feel. I tried, and failed, many times to quit before I was finally able to quit. I felt like there was no possible way I could kick the habit. What I found is that I needed these techniques, support of friends and family, and other tools to finally quit for good.
